Dendy Films is pleased to announce that actor Cillian Murphy will be visiting
Australia the w/c Sept 11, ahead of the release of the highly anticipated film,
THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY (opening Sept 21).

Cillian Murphy is the lead actor in THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY and is
undoubtedly one of the world's most exciting and versatile actors. He was
nominated for a Golden Globe Award this year for his critically acclaimed
performance in Neil Jordan’s BREAKFAST ON PLUTO (which is in cinemas now), and
his genuine “cool-cred” saw him receive a nomination at the recent MTV Movie
Award for his role as the villain, Scarecrow in BATMAN RETURNS.

He’s well known for his memorable performances in the period film COLD MOUNTAIN,
cult classic 28 DAYS LATER, starred opposite Scarlet Johansson in GIRL WITH A
PEARL EARRING, and stole the show in RED EYE.

Directed by multi-award winner, Ken Loach, THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY is
magnificent and unforgettable. Irish freedom fighters unite to face the ruthless
squads that are being shipped from Britain to block Ireland's bid for
independence. As their bold tactics bring the British to breaking point, both
sides finally agree to a treaty to end the bloodshed. But, despite the apparent
victory, civil war erupts and families who fought side by side find themselves
pitted against one another as sworn enemies, putting their loyalties to the
ultimate test.
